چکیده
• Vol 9 • November 2007 814 There is an intriguing connection between renal diseases and hearing disorders. The incidence of sensorineural hearing loss among patients with chronic renal failure is considerably higher than in the general population. The incidence is about 46–77% according to different studies, ranging from mild to severe hearing loss [1,2]. The etiology of this phenomenon is not fully known. The present review summarizes new developments in the understanding of the mechanisms underlying the link between hearing loss and renal disorders.

متن کاملPatterning and morphogenesis of the vertebrate inner ear.
The positional cues for formation of individual inner ear components are dependent on pre-established axial information conferred by inductive signals from tissues surrounding the developing inner ear. This review summarizes some of the known molecular pathways involved in establishing the three axes of the inner ear, anterior-posterior (AP), dorsal-ventral (DV) and medial-lateral (ML). Signals...
متن کاملNormative data for the subjective visual vertical test during centrifugation.
BACKGROUND The otoliths act as gravito-inertial force sensors and contribute to the perception of spatial orientation. The perception of gravitational vertical can be assessed by asking a subject to adjust a light bar to the vertical. Prior to clinical use of the SVV (subjective visual vertical) test, normative data and test-retest reliability must be established. PURPOSE To obtain normative ...
